The Daily Pilot

Tammy Gavel a resident of Costa Mesa, Special Olympic Gold Medal Winner, and a 1978 Estancia Alumni was in need of help moving the contents from her apartment to another. With her father and mother both 74 years old this was close to impossible to move the contents by themselves only 5 miles away. Coach Mike Bargas and Mayor Pro Tem Steve Mensinger took this as an opportunity to teach the football players to always give of time through volunteering. The football players met at the Estancia Football Training Center at 9:00am and started their Saturday (3/16/13) with donuts, orange juice, and muscles. After 4-hours of non-stop packing and moving, both Frank & Diane Gavel brought pizza and water for the hungry players and with tears in their eyes expressed gratitude for all they did.
